It WAS the 8th annual...

LAUREL HIGHLANDS BLUEGRASS MUSIC FESTIVAL!

June 18-19, 2010
Route 271, Waterford, Just 5 Miles North of Ligonier, PA

    ANOTHER GREAT ONE !

Incredible music, good crowds, warm (OK, hot) weather with only one rain shower, good food, and mucho fun. Number 8 is over and the reports so far have been glowing. It was a great weekend with some cool surprises -- including the celebration of John Trout's 25 years as host of WYEP-FM's "Traditional Ties" radio show. State House Representative Joseph Petrarca presented John with an official citation and our own Sparky Neiderhiser presented John with a commemorative plate. Congrats, John!

Be sure to check back here for updates about next year's festival!

    ON STAGE...

As always, both the Friday evening and Saturday lineups were filled with top-notch national, regional and local bluegrass performers. GREAT music was provided by:

+ Jeanette Williams Band - Award-winning vocalist and festival favorite from Virginia!
+ Special Consensus - On their 35th Anniversary Tour!
+ Hard Ryde - Award-winning band from Canada!
+ Lonesome Highway - Great band from West Virginia, here for two days!
+ Buck & Company - Fine traditional sounds from West Virginia!
+ Poverty Hollow - You asked to hear 'em again, they were back!
+ Blue Shades - Great music from these local favorites!
+ Mon River Ramblers
- Hot young band from Pittsburgh, made their debut with us!

Our ol' buddy John Trout from WYEP-FM's "Traditional Ties" show and Ligonier's Jeff Bell once again served as emcees, both keeping the show on schedule and adding that "certain something" to the festivities. (Whatever that may be.) First class sound was provided by Don, Ginger, and Steve of Soaring Eagle Productions, Bedford, PA. (We got tons of compliments on the great sound from both the fans and performers.)

    BIG THANKS FROM THE FIREMEN
