It was the 16th Annual...

JUNE 15-16, 2018

what a great one!

Hard to believe this was our 16th annual! And what an incredible weekend it was. The weather was perfect, the bands were wonderful, and we may have hit an attendance record. It doesn't get much better than that. Big thanks to everyone who made it such a success!

on stage...

Both the Friday evening and Saturday lineups were filled with top-notch national, regional and local bluegrass performers. GREAT music was provided by:

+ The Highland Travelers - New "super group" of Boxcars & Sisk alums!
+ Darrell Webb Band - Chart-topping, fan-favorite national band debuts!
+ Remington Ryde - Highly entertaining Pa. favorite returns!
+ Circa Blue - Solid, dynamic band from West Virgina debuts!
+ The Allegheny Drifters - Pittsburgh's very own celebrates 15 years!
+ Hickory Bottom Band - Fine contemporary band from Bedford, PA!
+ Open Highway - Longstanding band from Columbus, OH debuts!
+ South 79 - Regional favorites from PA/NY, featuring award-winners!

Our buddy Bruce Mountjoy, long-time host of WYEP-FM's "Bluegrass Jam Session" radio show, and Ligonier's Jeff Bell served as emcees, both keeping the show on schedule and adding that "certain something" to the festivities (whatever that may be). First class sound was once again be provided by Don, Ginger, and Steve of Soaring Eagle Productions, Bedford, PA. (They get tons of compliments on the great sound from both the fans and performers.)

in memory of john trout...

This year's festival was dedicated to the memory of our good buddy John Trout. WYEP-FM's host of the long-running "Traditional Ties" radio show, John was one of our festival emcees and advisors from the very beginning. His promotion of bluegrass music in western Pennsylvania spanned over 30 years. He is greatly missed.

eastman guitar raffle!

New this year we raffled off a fine handcrafted, dreadnought acoustic guitar from our new friends at Eastman Guitars & Mandolins. Congrats to John Moore of Greensburg, PA who was the big winner! Check out the guitar details HERE.

The festival benefits the Ligonier Township Volunteer Fire Department, Station #44. Their hard work, coupled with your support for them and the music, makes this a "win-win" for everybody. They deeply appreciate your attendance and your spreading the word about the festival.

The goal all along has been to make this an affordable, wholesome, family festival that provides a great bluegrass experience. Please support our sponsors who help make this possible.
